In the coming four years, 11.3 billion Yuan will be invested for pollution treatment of Shandong section for eastern project of South-north water transfer.

During the four years from 2004 to 2007, Shandong province will invest 11.326 billion Yuan for the pollution treatment of the Shandong section for the eastern project of South-north water transfer to assure the security of the water area.

Recently, government of Shandong province holds the pollution treatment meeting of eastern project of South-north water transfer in the Shandong section which demands that the water quality of the water conduction main stem in south of the Yellow River should reach the third level of the surface water in 2005; in 2007, the water conduction main stem of the whole line of the eastern first project reaches the third level of the surface water, forming the clean water corridor.

The eastern project of South-north water transfer refers to 10 cities of Shandong province, 487 kilometers of water conduction main stem, 57000 square meters drainage area. In recent years, the total investment of Shandong province is 1460 million Yuan, 37 rivers along the line of water diversion are fathered, therefore the water quality of the Shandong section of the eastern project of South-north water transfer have been improved. As for the security of the water area, government of the Shandong province signs responsible contract against pollution with 10 governments along the line.

Shandong province will strictly control the volume of pollutants, the name list system to forbid and limit the development of industry among the 10 cities along the line of water diversion will be firstly carried out. The program with serious pollution, such as newly straw pulp, amylum, brewage, chemical industry and printing and dyeing are strictly forbidden. The alcohol production line with 10000 tons or below, amylum production line and the waste paper production line with 20000 tons or below that can not steadily discharge along the line of water diversion must be stopped.
